This teen named Daniel is all anyone can talk about this weekend — here's why

Remember "the dress"? This is arguably one of the worst things I could open this post with, mostly because, well, of course you remember "the dress," and it's also just sort of a lazy way to introduce something else going viral on the internet.

But no really, do you remember what made "the dress" so great? It was because everyone ... everywhere ... seemed to stop what they were doing to partake in the inane discussion of the true color of this dress. It was a true viral moment! How many of those will we see in our lifetime? Hard to say.

Introducing "damn Daniel." Not quite as crazy as "the dress" but pretty damn (Daniel) close.

Have you seen this video yet? It's a kid, named Daniel, being filmed by his friend Josh; a sequence of Daniel's outfits over the course of what seems like a week.

"Damn, Daniel!" Josh whoops behind the camera in every shot. "Back at it again with the white Vans!" he cheers, referring to Daniel's shoes.

It's hard to explain why it's so funny.

Uploaded on February 15, "Damn, Daniel" has 230,000 retweets on Twitter and, as is the curse of all good viral content, has probably been ripped and distributed on various channels where it no doubt garnered thousands and thousands of more views.

Daniel and Josh have racked up tens of thousands of new followers (and a few marriage proposals).

It's not a prank video. There's nothing impressive going on. And yet ... people are obsessed with it.

Not everyone is impressed (but they're still aware of it and talking about it).

Now you'll know exactly what your colleagues are talking about when they yell "damn, Daniel" during a meeting Monday at work. But like all great memes, this one has a short shelf life, so get your jokes in now.
